I grew up in Batavia, NY (60's-70's) and there was a corner candy store on Ross St. where we would return bottles for the deposit and buy Chum Gum, the tastiest gum ever. I got my chum gum at my friends grandmothers store, that had every peen candy that was ever made. I live in Iowa where I would buy it at the neighborhood grocery store. Wow! I wish someone could find more info., bring it back. But Chum gum is the best tasting gum in the world. Love Chum GUM! Takes me back to my childhood every time ( I am 57). I can almost conjure up the taste if I try really hard. I have been typing chum gum in seach engines now and again hoping it would spark a memory or a location where I may purchase it. Do they still make it? In the 1960's, if I found a penny or two, I would run to the Dog Gone Grocery Store on South Merritt Island, FL., Then I'd eat both pieces before all my sisters found out. I grew up in SW Michigan in the 60s. If you swallow gum, it's true that your body can't digest it. OMG if a kid had that gum now maybe they would have the energy to get off their butt and go play in the woods!!! It came in sticks (5 per pack, if I remember correctly ) and the pack color corresponded with the flavor. The big size was our favorite too but the manufacturer reduced the size a few years ago.
