Riviera Nayarit – The preferred destination after the pandemic

According to an article published by the NTV news portal The charateristics of this region will attract tourism primarily from the United States and Canada.

Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués recognized that the health crisis caused by the Sars-Cov2 virus has struck a severe blow to the national economy, primarily in the tourism, manufacturing and petroleum sectors.

However he recognized that once this critical period ends, a recovery process will begin. He mentioned, for example, that the tourism sector will have the opportunity to reactivate it’s international markets, particularly in the United States and Canada which together represent 67.3% of the international tourism in Mexico each year.

He went on to say that 55.2% of foreign tourists come from the United States and 12.1% from Canada; Tourists who choose to travel to nearby destinations that they can fly to in less than 5 hours.

Destinations that meet these conditions are Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya and Cozumel in the state of Quintana Roo; Los Cabos and La Paz in Baja California Sur; Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara in Jalisco; Riviera Nayarit in Nayarit; Mazatlán in Sinaloa; Acapulco and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo en Guerrero; Manzanillo in Colima; Monterrey in Nuevo León; and Huatulco in Oaxaca; as well as Mexico City.

“Therefore, we have designed a strategy to reactivate domestic tourism, starting with short routes in the eight functional macro regions of the country, taking into account the large distribution centers of the 74 metropolitan areas, which is being carried out in coordination with tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers and restaurateurs ”, he indicated.

Once the confinement is finished, trips within Mexico will be reestablished gradually, and initially they will also be short, under three-hour road trips on average, which will allow exposing the tourism potential of the states with what is expected. that joint work between the public, private and social sectors foresees the reactivation of the tourism sector in Mexico in the shortest possible time.
